Let's say you're on the lookout for a new set of brushes. Or you need another fluffy blending brush. Or you need another reason to get said brushes.
This is your reason.
This post is dedicated to my first (of many) First Impressions Review, and the featured product is BH Cosmetics' 7-Piece Eye Essentials Brush Set (as of 10/14/15, retails for $12 on BHCosmetics.com).

Not only did their fluffy blending brush catch my eye, but also the similarities this set has to Sigma's Basic Eye Kit, which retails for $77 online. 12 bucks vs. 77 bucks? There has to be a difference in performance for that much of a difference in cost. Since I was already reviewing the BH Cosmetics set, why not do a #BattleoftheBrands and compare it to the Sigma brushes, performance-wise.

Let's cut to the chase:
PACKAGING?
Brush for brush, BH has a similar brush for every brush in the Sigma set, as you can see above. The BH cosmetic brushes have gold ferrules (which are gorgeous, by the way) and the Sigma brushes have the silver ferrules. The actual brush handle stems of the BH brushes are, for the most part, straight, but a few of them (like the fluffy blending brush) looks a little crooked. It's not a deal breaker for me, but I thought it would be a good thing to compare to Sigma's sturdily stright brush stems.
Both sets are thankfully labeled with numbers, but Sigma has the edge and also has the name of the brush (ie. small angled, large shading, etc.)
The BH brushes unfortunately have a factory smell to them when you first open them from the box. But all you have to do is air them out overnight and they no longer have the scent. Easy fix!
Here's what the brushes look like side by side:
SHEDDING?
So far, the BH Cosmetics brushes haven't shed. Granted, I've only used them once, but I have experienced a little shedding with Sigma, so I wouldn't be surprised if BH eventually shed a hair or two.
SOFTNESS?
At first contact, the BH brushes felt decently on my eye as I applied my eyeshadows (FYI: I used the pigmented LORAC Pro Matte Eyeshadows with both sets). The only difference I can feel between the sets is that the Pencil brush for BH actually feels softer than the Sigma brush.

PERFORMANCE?
The best way to see these babies in action are to actually watch them apply eyeshadows. You can do that by watching this video! I demo the brushes; one eye dedicated to BH, the other dedicated to Sigma. You be the judge if they perform differently.
CONCLUSION?
I definitely encourage you to try out these BH Cosmetics Brushes. They're a steal for 12 bucks, especially if you were considering on splurging on Sigma eye brushes. Even better, BH Cosmetics often holds deals and sales, so try to buy the brushes whenever they have a sale!
Hopefully this helps you out on your decision to buy them! Let me know how you like them!
